DI Seminars

Theory-based intensives for riders who want understanding, not just instruction.

Each seminar is limited to twenty participants — small enough for meaningful discussion, not crowd control. Places are often secured by returning riders before new dates even reach the public calendar.

Riders don’t come to perform; they come to understand.

Most riders don’t fail because they can’t ride — they fail because they’ve never been shown what’s really happening beneath them. They’re told to use more leg or soften the hand, but not why it matters or how it fits into the system that defines dressage. The DI Seminars change that by teaching the structure behind the feel — the system that gives meaning to every movement. Built on theory, not performance, the focus is clarity over correction.

Over five days, riders learn to connect cause and effect: how the horse’s balance, the rider’s timing, and their shared psychology interact. Every discussion brings the German Training Scale to life — practical, logical, and kind.

You don’t know what you don’t know

Many riders don’t know which questions to ask — not because they aren’t capable, but because they’ve never had the opportunity to explore dressage at this depth.

The group of twenty becomes a shared classroom where one person’s question unlocks insight for everyone.

These conversations reveal the missing links — how energy, balance, and mindset influence each other, and how to restore harmony without force or guesswork.

What makes it different

While primarily theory-based, the seminars include opportunities to see the principles in action.

Live demonstrations with experienced riders and FEI-level schoolmasters illustrate how theory translates into feel.

Participants may choose to observe or, where appropriate, take part in carefully guided sessions designed to reinforce understanding through practice.
Riding is an option — but comprehension is the focus.

Each session combines biomechanics, sports psychology, and the German Training Scale into one coherent system.
The scale isn’t reinterpreted — it’s clarified.

Riders learn how rhythm, suppleness, and connection form a living loop that allows impulsion, straightness, and collection to emerge naturally.
When that loop breaks, resistance replaces flow; when it’s restored, the horse becomes elastic, balanced, and confident.

What you’ll experience

  • Interactive theory sessions with DI educators who translate elite riding into clear, everyday language
  • Sports psychology modules on focus, mindset, and pressure management
  • Biomechanics and case-study analysis showing how the Training Scale functions in practice
  • Optional demonstrations and schoolmaster sessions for applied learning
  • Real-time Q&A and discussion — learning through shared insight
  • Practical frameworks for diagnosing and resolving training challenges

Why it works

Dressage is a thinking sport, yet most riders are taught to react rather than reason.

The DI Seminars build the skill of structured thinking — teaching riders to analyse, decide, and ride with clarity under pressure.

When riders understand the “why,” confidence replaces confusion. They stop waiting for someone to tell them what to do and start directing their own progress with precision and empathy.

What you’ll take away

  • A clear, practical understanding of the German Training Scale
  • The ability to identify and solve training issues independently
  • Tools for mental focus and composure in all environments
  • The chance to watch, and optionally experience, elite-level work in motion
  • A supportive network of riders who value understanding over control

Availability

Seminars are held across the UK, Europe, Australia, and the United States.

Each is capped at twenty participants and fills long before public release.

Returning riders frequently rebook immediately, leaving few new openings each season. Joining the waitlist early is strongly recommended to secure a place.
